Our linguistic validation (level 2 translations) services include:
- “Forward” translation by two independent translators
- Reconciliation between the two “forward” translations
- “Backward” translation by an independent translator
- Comparison of the original instrument with the “backward” translation by in-country contact
- Review by healthcare professionals working in the relevant therapeutic area
- Cognitive debriefing
- International harmonization (if involving multiple languages)
- Editing/revisions
- Completion of the summary report
The process also includes a summary report from the translator documenting the linguistic validation methodology followed for the production of the different language versions, a list of conceptual and linguistic issues encountered (and solutions), and information about respondents involved in pilot testing of the language versions.
Our validated translations also include a "certificate of validation" certifying the translation to be conceptually equivalent to the original. The final result is culturally relevant to the target country and easily understood by the local audience for which the tool is translated.
