About BURG Translations

Our story begins with Frida Burg, an immigrant who practiced law in Germany but fled to the US where she was free to earn the American Dream but could not practice law. Difficult times led her to apply her knowledge of law in a different way, by combining it with her knowledge of the German language and helping neighboring law firms translate technical legal documents. In 1936, as her small business grew, she enlisted friends with similar backgrounds and in similar circumstances for help. Before she passed away, Frida passed the business down to one of her trusted translators, Jean Loup Petit, who she knew would continue to care for her clients well. The story repeated itself when Jean Loup Petit passed the business down to a dedicated translator of his, Lodovico Passalacqua (“Lodo” for short), an engineer from Italy with a passion for precision and bringing people together for a good pasta dinner. Today, Lodo works with his son, Angelo, who has a background in business, to formalize best practices in quality management, incorporate the latest in technology, and champion customer service training to remind the team that happy clients is what helps make the American Dream come true for everyone.

Like our story, providing the best customer service is a never-ending journey.  For over 85 years, BURG Translations has had a tradition of keeping clients happy by providing the best service we know how.

To our clients, thank you for making this story possible.
