Training and Certification Programs for Translators and Interpreters

BURG Translations has provided language services to regulated industries since 1936. The BURG Training and Certification Programs extend that expertise to the professionals who do the work: translators and interpreters at every skill level, in organizations of every size.

Whether your goal is to standardize quality across an in-house language team, meet a federal or state qualification requirement, or advance your individual credentials, both programs offer structured, self-paced online training with verifiable certification at completion.

The two programs are distinct. Choose the one that matches your role:

Who the Programs Are For

Both programs serve two audiences:

Organizations with in-house language teams

Healthcare systems, pharmaceutical companies, legal organizations, and other regulated entities often rely on bilingual staff to fill translation or interpreting roles without formal credentials. Using unqualified personnel for these functions creates compliance risk under Title VI, Section 1557, and other federal and state requirements. The BURG programs provide a documented path to qualification that holds up under audit.

Individual translators and interpreters

Freelance and staff linguists seeking to formalize their credentials, expand into a new specialty, or earn continuing education credit will find structured coursework that advances their professional standing.

Program Credentials and Recognition

  • ATA CEP-Eligible (TCPT): The Translator Certification Program may earn up to 5 Continuing Education Points toward renewal of an American Translators Association (ATA) Certified Translator credential.
  • BURG-Issued Certification: BURG issues verifiable, auditable certifications upon successful completion.
  • Industry-Relevant Specializations: Both programs include courses covering community, medical, and legal settings – the regulated environments where qualification requirements are most consequential.
  • Fully Online, Self-Paced: Courses are accessible using an internet connection at any time, with no required attendance windows. Access to course materials is available for one year from enrollment.
A note on compliance

Federal regulations, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, require healthcare organizations to provide language access through qualified translators and interpreters. The BURG programs give organizations a verifiable, auditable credential to document that qualification. If you are assessing your organization’s current language access compliance posture, contact us; we provide advisory support alongside the training programs.
